Third edition of India’s largest educational exhibition, summit and awards, began with a grand opening on 2nd May 2015 at The Lalit in New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Anurag Batra and Alok Jalan, MD, Laqshya Media Group. Students gathered in huge numbers at the Edutainment Show, they were seen participating in sessions and exploring exciting career options in Media, Communications and Design Education.
Speakers included: Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor – ITE – TV Today Network; Annurag Batra Chairman & Editor-in-chief BW| Businessworld; Subhash Ghai, Filmmaker; Roshan Abbas, Managing Director – Encompass Events & Mentor Partner, The Glitch; Raghav Bahl, Founder & Former MD, Network 18 and Founder & Chairman – Quintillion Media Pvt Ltd amongst others .
Some very informative workshops and interesting sessions were lead by media stalwarts. Ankit Lal the Social Media Head of Aam Aadmi Party talked at length about their social media strategy and disclosed some secret tips on how to cope-up with crisis situations. Amit Prabhu, leading political communication expert and dean of India School of COmmunication and REputation (SCORE) gave an interesting talk on the scope for communicators in political arena. Pertinent to mention here, his institute is coming up with specialised course targeting the same space.

Fashion TV, the Global authority in fashion launched its new vertical, “FTv School of Design” at The Edutainment Show. Michel Adam, Founder of FTv shall formally launch the FTv school of Design in Mumbai on 9th May 2015.
More than 35 sessions were held on various topics like Growth of Media & Communication Industry, Design Thinking, Career Opportunities in Communication, Media & Film, Introducing Radio Revolution Opportunities for the youth, How to choose the right college or university for your Design Degree?, Careers in Photography, Women in Communication – How do you start early to make it big? The students were enriched and encouraged on taking off-beat careers.
In one of the sessions of ‘The new trends of Journalism’, eminent journalist Rajdeep Sardesai asked students present in the summit to move towards digital world as it is need of the hour. The generation now should be more agile, technology friendly and ready to experiment with digital media. Today, smart phones and tablets are the constant stream of stimuli, give rise to a profound new challenge to focusing and learning. In the coming years, the news organization will have 75% digital and 25% content, time to reach out for digital diets with magazines, newspapers and all other products will available on your cell phones only.
Tapas Sen, Chief Programming Officer of Radio Mirchi said that with the rollout of FM Phase III licensing, the Indian radio industry is optimistic about its huge growth. Phase III implementation will bring about a change, the industry has never seen before. It came after 14 years of Phase I (2001) and 8 years after Phase II (2007) which was the much awaited development that will help in robust growth of the industry. Private FM will no longer a urban phenomena, it will now travel to pan-India, every nook and corner of the country.
A session on Educational Leadership consisted of eminent panelists like Dr Pankaj Gupta – VC Apeejay University, Dr Padmakali Banerjee – Pro VC Amity University, Dr. Raj Singh – VC G.D.Goenka University, Dr. T. D. Dogra – VC SGT University and Prof Ravi Kant Mittal – VC K.R. Mangalam University.
While the first two years were a huge success in Mumbai, with over 40 top industry speakers and over 4000 students attending the exhibition and summit, The Edutainment Show 2015 grows to 3 cities- Delhi, followed by Mumbai and Kolkata, creating the largest platform which promises to be a one-stop platform of information, fun and an educational experience.

The Edutainment Awards
Second season of ‘The Edutainment Awards’- India’s first ever most comprehensive evaluation and rating of media, design, communication & entertainment education was held as a part of The Edutainment Show 2015. Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury is the convenor of the Edutainment Awards.A total of 15 Jury Members and + 15 companions judged each criteria for the awards.
Prof Brij Kishore Kuthiala, Vice Chancellor Makhanlal Chaturvedi Patrakarita Vishwa Vidyalaya receive the Lifetime Achievement Award & Subhash Ghai was conferred with the Special Award for Iconic & Evangelist Contribution to Film Education.

On the awards night the chief guest Dilip Chenoy, Managing Director & CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) said that there are pool of skills and talents in India, our graphic design education and creativity work rendered anywhere have always won hearts of the people across the world but we crave for more exposure and harnessing of such skills. In India there are only 5 lac media students that is very less in comparison to other western countries and Australia where half of the student population are into domain of media and communication and they are doing wonders for their respective countries.
Maheish Giri, the Member of Parliament from East Delhi was the guest of honour for the evening said India was known for its creativity since ancient times and it is taking it forward in a more diversified and extravagantly. The edutainment award is the great initiative to recognise the best talents and celebrating the excellence of media & entertainment industry. The awards were meticulously charted out based on parameters assessing the merit of the institutes across India (Performance figure of 2 years, infrastructure, affiliations, syllabi, alumni & network). The top three colleges were felicitated with gold, silver and bronze trophies to mark them as the top destinations for media, communication and design.
